George Russell expressed disappointment with Mercedes’ performance at the F1 Imola Grand Prix, calling them “dead slow” and highlighting their struggle with rising temperatures. Despite finishing seventh, his teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli retired from the race due to the same issues. Russell pointed out that their poor performance in hot conditions has been a recurring problem dating back to last year, which the team has been unable to address. He emphasized that their struggles were not due to bad luck but a fundamental issue in the car, as they have consistently been slower than Ferrari and Williams in similar weather conditions. Russell noticed the problem even before the race began during his reconnaissance lap, but the team could not pinpoint the source of the discomfort he felt while driving. Despite their challenges, he admitted that they were fortunate to secure a seventh-place finish at Imola, as all their rivals experienced a better race.
